Heroic armies of Dwarves, Elves and Men can battle the hordes of Orcs and Trolls. Possible battles in this period are the battle of the Five Armies (The Hobbit), Pelennor Fields (The Lord of the Rings), Battle for Tyrsis (The Sword of Shannara), The Riftwar (The Magician) or Thull Mardu (The Belgariad). 1. Fantasy Warfare System, by Pete Jones & Mike Pughe-Jones.

This is a set of rules aimed at large-scale fantasy battles played on the tabletop. They were written specifically for the Pendraken range of 10mm figures but can just as easily be used with any range of Fantasy figures. The rules are divided into two sections - the rules and a complimentary set of notes which clarify some of the more important points.

1. Battle Of The Pelennor Fields, by Altany Craik.

Based on J.R.R. Tolkiens epic saga of good versus evil. This article outlines the composition of each army - Garrison of Minas Tirith, Riders of Rohan, The Orcs of Mordor and their allies The Haradrim with thier Oliphants. Add to this some random events and you have the potential for a small team wargame (or a larger one on one!).

2. Whirlpool washing machines
