Using Secure Socket Layer Technology (or SSL for short) is commonly reffered to as using a secure server. When you click on the "
buy now" button, the secure server at globalnet sets up an encrypted link, over which your payment details are transferred.
When you buy from us using our on-line credit card system, your tansactions enjoy a high degree of security - at least on par, if not better, than giving it to the waiter in a restraunt.
The UK bank also require us to have a firewall, which is yet another barrier between any hackers and our system. We use Zone Alarm, in the companies own words -
"Combining the safety of a dynamic firewall with total control over applications Internet use, ZoneAlarm gives rock-solid protection against thieves / vandals. ZoneAlarm makes ironclad Internet security easy-to-use." |

Contrary to what some people will tell you, credit card fraud is very rare. More so on the internet, because of all the checks that each transaction goes through. We are unlikely to process a £250 order without contacting the person to ensure that they haven't made a typographic error, and the quantity should total £25!
We have all heard about the horror stories which circulated right from the beginning, though there is little evidence to back most of them up. The credit card company will usually refund, with interest, the amount taken. You are at most liable for £50 of any losses made prior to alerting the issuing company, even this is usually waived unless you appear negligent in some way.
Many people, myself included, have made on-line purchases. These range from books, CD's & magazine subscriptions up to cars and Holidays. I know the first time is a little worrying, I admit to being nervous when first entering those 16 precious digits...nowadays, it's never mind the number how quickly can I get the products.
